This is a common problem with no concrete solution. You can try to preform a Soft reset by pressing the Alt-Shift-R keys at the same time. (Shift is the one that looks like an up arrow.) If that doesn't work, plug your Kindle into the charger and try again. You can also perform a Hard Reset by taking the cover off the back and inserting a paperclip in the little hole and hold for 10 seconds.
