British Airways: How do I get a refund for a flight I missed due to personal emergency?

A simple 5 step guide for solving this common British Airways problem quickly and effectively by GetHuman

1
Almost every airline has a policy that allows you to request a refund for a flight that you missed due to personal emergency. In general you can get your money refunded if you have a note from your doctor, or in some cases the obituary or a copy of the death certificate, depending on the circumstances of your personal matter. If you have all of that information then you can call one of their customer service reps to request a refund.
2
Once you have the information that you need, you can use this number to call them.
3
Once you are connected to a rep, let them know that you had to cancel your flight because of a personal emergency and that you wish to get refunded. They will then ask you a series of questions around this event and in most cases will request that you can send them the documentation that prove your emergency. The key here is to be very nice to the rep as they will be more willing to work with you when you are nice.
4
Another option is to submit the issue to them online. You can get started with this link.
5
The form is quite extensive so make sure to provide as much details about the flight as possible. When you get to the bottom there's even a box to describe the nature of your refund request. This is where you should take the time to let them know that you weren't able to make the flight because of a personal emergency, and you would like to be refunded for the missed flight. Once you submit the issue to them it can take several weeks to resolve this issue and they may even email you for more information. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
