Capital One Bill Pay: Deleting a Payee

There are two ways to delete a payee from your Capital One bill pay list: online and through the mobile app.

Deleting a Payee Online

When you need to delete a payee from your Capital One account, you can do it by following these steps:

  1. Log into your account from the Capital One website.
  2. Click "checking account" from your available account options. If you have more than one checking account, make sure you check the right one.
  3. Choose the link for "bill pay" to access your list of payees.
  4. Choose the payee you wish to remove and select "delete."
  5. Confirm you wish to remove this payee from the account to complete the process.

Removing a Payee Using the Mobile App

It's also possible to remove a payee using the mobile app. Just follow the steps below:

  1. From your phone or tablet, open your Capital One app. If you don't have the app already installed on your device, text the word "MOBILE" to 80101 and download the link when it comes in the reply.
  2. Log into your Capital One account.
  3. Tap "checking" to go to your checking account, and tap "pay bills" to open your list of payees.
  4. Open the payee on your device you wish to remove and select "delete payee."
  5. Confirm you wish to continue with the action to complete the removal process.

Once a financial obligation has been met and you will no longer need to send payments, deleting them from your Capital One account allows you to keep better track of open accounts and obligations. It also prevents inadvertently sending payments to an account that has already been closed or paid in full.
