So how do you cancel Dish service? The best way to cancel your Dish service is through contacting Dish customer service. Unfortunately, Dish does not have an option to cancel online on their website or in their live chats. You can cancel Dish service by emailing your request to Dish.

Step 1: Call the Customer Service

Make a call to Dish customer service. Follow the instructions provided to select your preferred language. It will ask for the category you want to deal with whether it is related to new plans or cancellation. Choose the cancellation option. This call should come from the number you registered with when you were signing up for any Dish service. It will ask you to confirm your account by pressing "1".

Step 2: Confirm Your Account

Enter the four-digit security code they send you while signing up for Dish services. In case you forgot the code, visit the Dish official website and sign in then click the forgot security code option. Via SMS you get an OTP, confirm it and set the security code again.

Step 3: Talk with a Representative

Your call will transfer to a representative at Dish satellite network. Tell the representative you would like to cancel your service with Dish. The representative will ask for a reason to cancellation. Quickly state your intention to cancel. Make sure to give a solid reason and be transparent.

The retention agent will try to inquire more and ask if you would like to reconsider your decision. They will try offering discounts or ask what they can do to improve your service. No matter what they tell you, stick to your choice and politely decline their offer. You can say something like, "thank you, but I want to cancel".

Expect the representative to be persistent because they get a commission for every retained customer. Keep the record for your call for confirmation purpose.

Step 4: Return the Equipment

After the representative allows you to cancel, don't hang up, ask for an equipment recovery box to send and also the equipment to be returned. If 5 or 6 days pass you have not received the box, call customer service and request again.

Pack your equipment carefully once you receive the pre-paid return box. The box comes with packing materials, a list of items to return and a pre-paid return postage label. Attach the return label to the outside of return box and arrange for pickup. You can drop it at any UPS store. Make sure the box reaches Dish store on time to avoid late delivery penalties.

Step 5: Confirm the Final Account Statement

Call Dish customer service to verify if you have fully paid any charges. You can also check it on your account. If you broke the contract early, check if the termination fee is paid. If you returned the equipment early, make sure there are no charges added.
