If DTE Energy overcharged your account, you can claim a refund. The company has paid millions of dollars to customers that had been overcharged over the past years. The law no longer allows DTE Energy to self-impose customer rates. If they overcharge you, they may have to pay your compensation with interest.
DTE Energy Automatic Payment Plan
With Autopay, DTE Energy automatically deducts your bill amount from your account at the end of the month. The amount will be deducted from the payment method you choose. The options include; visa ®, checking account, Discover ®, and debit card. You may choose to receive your bill online or by mail.
If your bill is 90 days or more overdue, you are not eligible for this payment option. If you have had two or more payments returned by your financial institution when using DTE Energy, you can't use a checking or savings account for your Autopay.
You can change your payment information on Autopay whenever you want. Sign in to your account and find the option 'Payment Center.'
You still have the option of making one-time payments. If you pay part of the bill, Autopay will charge you for the balance. If auto-pay charges you for the entire amount after you have made your full payments, you may contact the support team and ask for help. If the support representatives can confirm that you were overcharged, they will give you a refund.
With this program, DTE Energy estimates your yearly energy quotes and divides it by 12. This payment plan is great because you pay equal amounts every month. You can avoid big swings from month to month.
At the end of every three months, your billing estimate is compared to your actual energy consumption. If the difference is significant, your monthly payments will be adjusted.
The difference between your BudgetWise billing and the balance will be reconciled once a year on the Settlement month. You should see the changes on your monthly billing statement. Anyone that has active service with a good standing account can qualify for BudgetWise billing.
You do not qualify for BudgetWise billing if you are enrolled in SolarCurrents/ Net Metering.
With this billing option, you get to choose the payment date even though a due date is issued on your bill. You have the chance to make your payment on the date you choose as long as it is before the due date listed on your monthly statement.
On the left side of your statement, you will find the option 'Your BudgetWise Billing.' It shows the amount that is due. The option 'Actual Balance Information' shows your actual charges. It is the amount you would have paid if you were not on the payment option. Keep a close eye on the option 'Actual Balance Information' to make sure that you are not being overcharged. If you feel that you are being overcharged, you may contact the support team and ask for their help.
