DirecTV: How do I speak to someone about lowering my bill?
A simple 7 step guide for solving this common DirecTV problem quickly and effectively by GetHuman
Before you get started, be sure you have: Account number, Account phone number, Billing address
If your bill was more than what you agreed on you may need to contact a Direct TV customer service rep -
If you want to try and lower your bill, we can help with that as well. What you will need to do is first look up some of the current prices and promotions from one of their competitors (DISH). Once you find a similar deal that's being offered at a lower price, then you are ready to call them.
Make sure to keep repeating that you wish to cancel to the IVR
When the rep picks up, let them know that you aren't happy about your bill and that you are paying too much and want to cancel
They are going to transfer you to the retention center. Again, you will need to explain that your bill is too high and that you are thinking about cancelling. Let them know that you've found a better deal with their competitor and want to see if they can match the price. If they refuse, ask them what the current offerings and deals are and see if they can give you one of those deals.
Don't forget, it costs a company more to acquire a new customer than it does to retain a current customer. Make sure to be direct but don't be mean! Reps are more likely to help you out if you are reasonable and direct. Let us know how it goes!
