Originally founded in 1996, Expedia's name is derived from the words "exploration" and "speed." Since it's conception, the company has been an online presence in the travel industry for individuals and small businesses. Nowadays, you can book a flight online, by phone or through the apps. However, what are the steps if you need to change your flight? Expedia has the answers and this guide will walk you through each one.
You can change your flight one of two ways: either through the Trips link next to the Sign In at the upper right corner or you can use the Virtual Agent through live chat. Please note that there are some restrictions depending on the type of flight you can change. From the Trips link, click on the Change Flight option and search for the flight best for your needs. You will also see the cost of the flight including any applicable fees.
First of all, Expedia recommends that you review the Airline Rules and Restrictions in your itinerary for any specific rules or fees associated with changing your flight. Some full-service airlines don't charge fees as long as you change or cancel within 24 hours of the original booking. After 24 hours, you can visit the Trips link or use the Virtual Agent to help you edit your flight.
If you booked light fares or economy, those flights don't usually allow for any changes. Please check your itinerary or your booking confirmation for details. It's advised you also call the low-cost airline directly to see what they do allow. Expedia has more information under the Change Your Flight section of the help pages including same-day flight changes and round-trip flights with two one-way fares.
Please call Expedia customer service representatives if you have any questions.

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Expedia in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Change My Flight on Expedia? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
