What Is Hyatt's Coronavirus Change or Cancellation Policy?

Hyatt does not currently have a specific coronavirus change and cancellation policy. Instead, it has returned to allowing individual resorts and hotels to craft their own change and cancellation policies. Many of these policies allow guests to change or cancel reservations without penalty if the change or cancellation is made at least 24 or 48 hours in advance of the check-in time. World of Hyatt members sometimes have until midnight of the night before.

The coronavirus has caused many hotels and resorts to change their change and cancellation policies repeatedly. If you have a reservation at a Hyatt resort or hotel, you are probably wondering what Hyatt's current coronavirus change and cancellation policy is. This article will tell you what you need to know.

Hyatt's Current Coronavirus Change and Cancellation Policy

Hyatt has no current coronavirus-specific change and cancellation policy. It has instead resumed its usual change and cancellation policy procedure. Under this procedure, individual Hyatt resorts and hotels set their own individual change and cancellation policies. These individual policies usually vary depending on factors like the nightly rate, even within the same facility. However, although these policies can differ, many permit guests to change or cancel without fees at any time before a 24- or 48-hour window before check-in.

The change and cancellation policy that applies to your reservation should have been displayed when you made the reservation. You can also look in the confirmation email you got after making your reservation to learn the policy terms. You can also ask a Hyatt representative about your specific policy's details.

If you made your reservation through a discount travel site or some other third party, you are bound by the terms of that third party's change and cancellation policy. Contact that third party for details.

If you are a member of the World of Hyatt program, then you can cancel your reservation until midnight the day before check-in, as long as the hotel's cancellation window is 48 hours or less and the reservation was confirmed by either Globalist, Lifetime Globalist, or Explorist. Some reservations do not qualify for this exception.

Please note that if you change your reservation in any way, you may get a new change and cancellation policy. Check the terms of your new reservation to be sure.

Hyatt's Previous Coronavirus Change and Cancellation Policy

Prior to this, Hyatt had waived all change and cancellation fees due to the coronavirus, no matter when the change or cancellation was made. It is reasonable to suppose that, should conditions change again, it might return to something like this policy.

Contacting Hyatt

If you have questions about your reservation's change and cancellation policy, you can ask a Hyatt representative. Use the phone or Hyatt's customer support email. However, there are no other online contact options, such as a chat or help forum.
