JetBlue Airlines is committed to providing as pleasant and as simple as possible, there are times when things go array. Such a situation is when flights are delayed, or worse yet, completely cancelled.

It is crucial to know what to do when a JetBlue flight you are supposed to board gets cancelled or delayed. You should also know what to do if you need to rebook a flight, the fees for doing so and the manner in which you will be compensated in case your flight gets cancelled.

First and foremost, JetBlue Airways will automatically send you updates in real time via email if there are any changes to your flight. You can also check the status of your flight through the JetBlue mobile app or through the JetBlue Flight Tracker and Status feature.

JetBlue Delay and Cancellation Policies

It is rare for JetBlue Airways to cancel a flight. When a flight is cancelled due to bad weather, JetBlue will try their best to cancel the flight at least four hours before its original departure. Passengers will be notified of flight cancellations via email, push notifications and automated phone calls.

Cancelled JetBlue flights will not be reinstated for any reason whatsoever. If your flight is cancelled, you should seek compensation and book another flight.

If you receive news that your flight has been delayed, JetBlue suggests that you arrive at the airport at the original departure time. If the delay is due to poor weather conditions and they improve, the flight may depart close to the original departure time or the plane may be substituted.

If your flight is cancelled due to poor weather, fees will not be waived unless there is a fee waiver issued by JetBlue. The fee can also be waived if the flight is cancelled by JetBlue.

Rebooking a Cancelled Flight

If your JetBlue flight is cancelled for any reason whatsoever, you can rebook your flight at no charge by contacting JetBlue customer service. You can choose to rebook a flight at the airport.

If you did not book the flight by calling customer service or through the app, you should call JetBlue customer service and ask for compensation a week or more after the flight's scheduled departure.

If your flight is cancelled within 4 hours of the flight's departure, you will receive $50 of airline credit. If the flight is cancelled after the appointed departure time, you will receive $100 in airline credit.
