MetroPCS is simply referred to as Metro and is one of the prepaid wireless service providers in the US. Metro is reputed for operating a selection of mobile devices (mainly smartphones) as well as data plans across the country.

Previously this prepaid wireless service carrier was known as MetroPCS until it merged with another wireless service provider, T-Mobile USA's LTE & 4G network in 2013. After the merging, the name was changed to Metro. Originally, the company's name was known as General Wireless Inc. and was established in 1994. The initials 'PCS' on Metro was derived from the name, 'Personal Communications Service'.

Initially, MetroPCS had more than 9 million subscribers countrywide but the number rose to 32 million after joining hands with T-Mobile. Afterward, MetroPCS was rebranded to what is popularly known as Metro by T-Mobile. This change in the name came about after introducing new unlimited pricing plans. These included new features like Google One and Amazon Prime bundles storage options.

Currently, Metro provides internet and cell services in 5 states within the US. The most covered states include Michigan, California, and Texas. At the moment the number of subscribers has soared to 54.3 million, placing the company at the 6th position among residential mobile internet service carriers.

Plans to expand the network coverage are in the pipeline to increase the number of users. Lately, MetroPCS has received complaints and criticism due to its network outage. Despite the network being on 4G technology, the speeds are relatively slow compared to other competitors. This problem contributes so much to the network outages in areas covered. How do I check if there's a MetroPCS internet or cell service outage?

Do I Check the Service Outage by Troubleshooting Myself?

Probably yes. You can troubleshoot yourself as a way of solving the outage problem in your location. When the internet or cell services go down with messages such as 'unable to connect' or 'no data', the first step is to restart your mobile device.

Maybe the outage problem could be resulting from your mobile's settings or malfunction, thus cutting you off from the network services. Most likely, the problem with your mobile device could be data settings, software updates or your location.

If the problem is settings on your device, then it should take you a short while to correct it. Likewise, you can set your device to update its software so you may access the MetroPCS internet and cell services in your location.

Device Hotspot Settings

When it comes to connecting your mobile device to the hotspot service, that is when you need to verify the Metro mobile coverage around you. In this regard, you must do a thorough checking with your device hotspot settings.

If the device is not indicating the availability of MetroPCS network services, then you should restart it. Most likely, restarting your device will help it connect to the internet or cell service if you are in the network coverage area. This will help you find out if there is a service outage in your location.

Should I Contact the Customer Support Team at MetroPCS?

If the problem persists, you may contact customer service representatives at MetroPCS to report the matter. In most cases, the representative will check if there is a report on the internet or cell service outage from your region. Mostly, outages are tracked independently, reported and mapped in real-time. The customer will confirm the outage report and get back to you with a solution.
