If you have a used Metro PCS phone that has been disconnected from its network, you can reactivate it with a new service plan. It is a simple procedure, and there are a number of different ways you can go about it.

Reactivation by Phone

If you have another phone that you can use, follow these instructions:

    1. Remove the battery compartment cover from the back of the phone.
    2. Remove the battery from the phone.
    3. Note the 11 or 18 digit DEC, ESN, or MEID number on the sticker there.
    4. If you are reactivating a 4G phone, you will also need to make note of the IMEI number.

    6. Give the customer service agent your name, security information, and any other information needed to set up the new account.
    7. Give the customer service agent the numbers noted in steps 3 and/or 4.
    8. Record your new phone number and any additional instructions you are given.
    9. Replace the battery and the battery cover.
    10. Turn on the phone and wait for it to receive its new programming.
    11. Follow any additional instructions you were given, or that appear on the screen.
    12. Pay for the first week or month of service. If you do not, your account will be suspended.

Reactivation Online

If you prefer to reactivate the phone online then follow these instructions:

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover from the back of the phone.
  2. Remove the battery from the phone.
  3. Note the 11 or 18 digit DEC, ESN, or MEID number on the sticker there.
  4. If you are reactivating a 4G phone, you will also need to make note of the IMEI number.
  5. Go to the Metro PCS home page.
  6. Click on the Activate & Select Plan link in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
  7. Enter your name, security information, the numbers noted in steps 3 and/or 4, and any other information needed to set up the new account in the text fields provided.
  8. Record your new phone number.
  9. Replace the battery and the battery cover.
  10. Turn on the phone and wait for it to receive its new programming.
  11. Follow any additional instructions that appear on the screen.
  12. Pay for the first week or month of service.

Reactivation at the Store

If you want, you can also take the phone to a Metro PCS store and ask them to reactivate it for you. You may need to pay an activation fee if you do this, however.
