Can I Return a Patagonia Item I Bought Online in the Store?
Patagonia is an American manufacturer of outdoor clothing and sporting wear. They make clothes or sports such as climbing, trail running and fishing.
Unfortunately, you may receive your order from Patagonia and decide to return it. You may do so because they sent the wrong product, because the item is damaged or defective or because it does not meet your standards.
Fortunately, Patagonia has a return policy that covers most return scenarios. They aim to please their customers and will do anything to ensure they deliver a quality and satisfactory product.
Patagonia Return Policy
You can return any item that you bought from Patagonia.com whether it was brand new or on sale. There is no time limit for when you should return the product but you should do so in a timely fashion so that the item is still in pristine condition and with the tags attached.
If you return a Patagonia product one year after the purchase date, you will be refunded with Patagonia store credit and not cash or a replacement.
The Patagonia return process is quite simple. You will require your order number and billing zip code for you to initiate the return process.
If you still have your order number, you should use Patagonia's $5 printable return shipping label which also includes tracking and insurance for your package.
If you do not have your order number, you should use Patagonia's return form and send the package with a shipping carrier of your choice. The carrier should preferably provide tracking and insurance.
Returning a Package to the Store
You can also return the package to a Patagonia store if you live close to one. The customer support staff will be happy to assist you with your return.
You can simply use the Patagonia store locator to find out if there is a Patagonia store near you. The Patagonia owned stores will be the ones in Orange.
You will need to bring the invoice or the packing slip that came with your order and the original form of payment if you still have access to it.
If you purchased your items using PayPal, then your refund can only be in the form of a Patagonia Gift Card if you return it to the store.
You will usually receive your refund directly at the store. However, some stores will send your return to Patagonia's distribution center so that your refund can be processed.
Stores that appear in black on Patagonia's store locator are authorized dealers. Authorized dealers cannot process returns unless you bought the item from them originally.
However, Patagonia does accept returns on behalf of their authorized dealers. You only need to fill Patagonia's return form or visit a Patagonia store. You will be refunded with Patagonia merchandise credit for the last known sale price. You will have to provide a receipt or some proof of purchase to receive the refund.
If an item bought on Patagonia was labeled and delivered as a gift, then you should note it clearly on the return form. You can then tell Patagonia how you want them to issue your refund. You can either choose to have it, issued as Patagonia merchandise credit, it can be a refund to the original buyer or credit for a new order.
Patagonia does its best to process returns as quickly as they can. It often takes 7 business days to process returns once they arrive at Patagonia's facilities. However, when there is a lot of traffic, it can take up to twice that long.
