How do I sign up for SafeLink service?

A simple 7 step guide for solving this common SafeLink problem quickly and effectively by GetHuman

SafeLink is a free government cell phone program which provides new customers with 500 Minutes and Unlimited Texts for the first 4 Months. After 4 months the program continues with 350 Minutes and Unlimited Texts monthly.
To sign up for service, go here.
In the box on the left of the screen, enter your zip code, then click "APPLY NOW".
There are five steps in the application process. You will first need to enter your personal information, then your address.
Eligability varies state by state, but generally those who participate in one of the following programs and eligiable for the SafeLink program.
-Medicaid -Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps or SNAP).
-Supplemental Security Income (SSI).Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8). -Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
-Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
-The National School Lunch Program's Free Lunch Program.
-Head Start (if income eligibility criteria are met).
You will need to prove your eligiability by uploading a few documents.
Once your application has been process, you will receive your SafeLink phone within 10 days.
