When you initiate a dispute over your utility bill, Seattle Public Utilities conducts a four stage review process. First, your bill is reviewed by staff members. Then, if you are not satisfied with the result, it is reviewed by a supervisor. After that, it is reviewed by a manager. Finally, it is reviewed by a hearing officer.

Disputing Your Seattle Light Bill

There are a few different ways you can initiate the dispute. You can send a letter to the company requesting that your bill be reviewed by writing to:

You can also go in person to the Seattle Municipal Tower located at 700 5th Avenue. Just go to the Customer Service Center in the lobby and talk to a customer service representative.

No matter how you initiate the return, you need to explain in detail why you are disputing the charge as well as which part of the charges you are disputing. You also need to explain what you want Seattle Public Utilities to do about your situation. You need to pay any undisputed charges at the time you begin the dispute.
