Social Security: How do I start withholding taxes from my benefits?

A simple 5 step guide for solving this common Social Security problem quickly and effectively by GetHuman

Before you get started, be sure you have: Name on the account, Address, Last 4 digits of Social Security number
Hi we can help you with this. If you have not applied for benefits yet, when you do apply, you can designate the amount of withholding you would like.
If you are already receiving benefits, you will need to let the IRS know of the changes that you would like to make by filing a form W-4V. Download the form here:
Once you have filled out the initial information, you can select 7%, 10%, 15% or 25% of your monthly benefit withheld for taxes.
You will then need to take your completed form to your local social security office for them to file. You can find it here by entering your zip code:
If you have any further questions about this, you can contact them with this number (call Social Security here). Let me know if this helps!
