How to Create an Account With Southern California Edison

With a Southern California Edison account, users can view their monthly statements and manage their payment method. Users can also manage several bills under a single account.

Creating an Account

To register, use your full name and email address, and create a User ID and a secure password. Then you'll be prompted to verify your email address using a verification code. Be sure to use this link within 24 hours to successfully set up your online account.

Online Billing and Auto-Payments

Customers can choose to go paperless and use their online account to manage their Edison bills. Users can view the amount due and due date on their current bills as well as past monthly statements.

With auto-pay, also known as direct payment, users allow Southern California Edison to automatically deduct the total amount due 10 days after the bill is created. This feature can be ideal for individuals who have the income to pay their bill but have trouble remembering to pay it on time.

Both of these options can be found in the Billing and Payment Options section of your account.

Budget Billing Plan

For eligible households, the Budget Billing Plan gives customers the option of paying equal payments throughout the year. The rate is based on the sum of your previous year's usage, divided by 11.

Keep in mind that the rate can change on a quarterly basis (on months three, six, or nine), depending on how you consume electricity. The more you use, the more likely your monthly rate will increase the next quarter. If you use less, the company will lower your monthly rate during the next quarter. A month prior to when the change takes effect the company places a message about the rate change on your monthly statement.

In the 12th (final) month, you will receive a statement showing how much electricity was used throughout the year compared to how much you paid. In the event that you paid for more than you used, a credit will be applied to your monthly bills until the difference has been made up.

Financial Assistance Options

While the Budget Billing Plan doesn't actually decrease the overall amount owed, there are financial assistance programs available, such as the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) and Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) programs and the One-Time Payment Help program, which are available for eligible households.
