The airline grants passengers up to 11 months to change their flight but you can make changes after your flight schedule has been published. The airline itself can make changes to your flight including changes to flight departure or arrival times, changes in frequency of flights, addition or discontinuation of routes and changes to type of aircraft.

Changing your flight involves changing certain aspects of your ticket. Cancelling your ticket and rebooking it is another issue altogether with its own policies.

You can change your United Airline flight either using the airline's website or mobile app. However, your flight has to be eligible for the change to occur.

If your ticket is not eligible for any sort of change, you will receive a message when you click ‘Change Flight.' If it is you may be subject to ticket change fees.

Basic economy tickets are not eligible for any type of change. You can make changes to the premium economy tickets though.

You may change your United Airlines ticket if you made your reservations through a third party but you should check with them first and know your choices. You may also be subject to a fee in addition to the airline's change fee if you alter such a ticket.

As stated earlier, changing your United Airlines ticket is a straightforward process either through the website or mobile app. It involves the following steps:

1. Launch your web browser and open the United Airlines website.

2. Enter you account details and log in to your account if you have one.

3. Hover your mouse over the ‘My Trips' tab at the top of the United Airlines' website homepage and click ‘My Flights.'

4. If you have an account, you list of flights will be presented. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to input your flight details to retrieve your flight.

5. Select the flight you want to alter and then click ‘Change Flight.'

6. Click ‘Edit' to make changes to departure date or destination. You can also add or remove a flight.

7. Review your changes and when satisfied, click ‘Continue.'

8. Continue with booking to confirm the flight change.

9. You will be required to pay the flight change fee and fare difference if present.

10. Click ‘Confirm' and you will have changed your flight.
