WordPress is one of the most popular blogging platforms for businesses and individuals. Because of the high visibility offered by WordPress, many people have decided to transfer their web content there. If you have a blog or website that you want to move to WordPress, then read on to learn how to make the move.

Moving Content from a Website with CMS

If the website you want to move is built on a CMS platform, then the moving process might be rather easy. WordPress has a number of plugins to make the process relatively simple. Go to the WordPress codex, which has a list of dozens of tutorials for importing web content from different CMS platforms. Check the list to determine if your site's CMS has a tutorial, and follow its instructions if it exists. If you cannot find your CMS on the list, check to see if your CMS platform has a tool of its own.

Without a CMS platform that WordPress recognizes, the task of moving your website is going to be a lot more difficult. You will have to create a WordPress site and then copy and paste the content from the website you want to move.
